The Explosion shot requires courage and confidence because the player must blast the ball with high club head speed, from an unsuitable lie. The first thing to do is to make up your mind that one shot will get you out of trouble. The stance should be open, with the feet firmly embedded in the sand. The eyes should be directed to the area of sand at which the club head is aimed. The bunker shot is a no ball contact swing, where the ball will travel in the direction that the sand goes. The stroke is made from a ¾ swing. The club head must swing with sufficient force to carry it down through the sand and into the follow through.
