2/ How to test & improve your coordination

Test your walkThere is a link between mental / physical coordination and your walking gait. When walking normally with both hands free, are the movements of each arm equal and opposite to the other leg? You may have to employ an 'umpire' to help you decide.Does one arm move in a shorter arc than the other, or at an angle across your body?Does one arm hang limply by your side? Do you walk often with both hands clasped behind your back?If you find that your arm or leg movements are unequal, uneven, irregular, or non-existent, your coordination is probably out of phase, various paired muscles imbalanced, and your posture off-centre.The left side of the brain controls movement and function on the right side of the body. One side becomes dominant in early childhood, determining right or left handedness.Certain simple but specific exercises strengthen or repair this diagonal crossover mechanism… and if coordination can be improved by these exercises, so can your ability to stand on the mat, deliver a bowl, and retain balance.  Next go to the Cross Crawl Exercise.
